Precisamente la semana pasada estuve viendo algunos cómics suyos de Kull y esta mañana reconocí su estilo en un cómic sin firmar de Billy the kid. Buscando en la red, di con que hizo muchos números de esta serie de vaqueros y pasé un rato admirando su capacidad narrativa, de gran claridad, la rotundidad de sus figuras, la corporeidad de todo lo representado, su incofundible manera de entintar, su uso de las onomatopeyas… Un gran maestro de la historieta norteamericana que pasó por algunos de los momentos y lugares más gloriosos de la historia del medio, imprimiendo su personal sello que ha creado escuela, destacando entre sus alumnos más aventajados el gran (demasiado grande ser solo un alumno) Richard Corben.

D.E.P. el gran John Severin; yo también recuerdo su increible paso por Kull the Conqueror, sus historias en EC y sus relatos de guerra magníficos. Western y humor también fueron géneros donde nos dejó su maestría. Gran aportación y hermoso homenaje la de este Oldies but goldies y gran aportación la de Agu Ariza.

Abrumado por la valoración de Tristán me veo obligado a hacerlo medio bien.
En los Billy the Kid hay menos Severin de lo que me esperaba y puede que alguna sean reimpresiones y se me hayan pasado.
De todos modos, Severin hizo bastantes historietas para esta colección y seguramente vayan añadiendo más números poco a poco.
